Media Literacy

This seminar is very important to me especially to those new generations. It helps people realize how media affects in our life and popularity for those social media users like twitter, facebook, Instagram etc. it’s helps me because I’m social media user too I notice something because of social media news. Seminar starts with a video film about our very own RAM Page, next with a prayer song “Scandal of Grace”, Philippine Anthym, and introducing the speakers. The 3 speakers are from GMA 7 named Ms. Edmallyne Remillano Head Writer, State of the Nation with Jessica Soho, Secretary, Talents Association of GMA Network, Ms. Jan Meynard Nualla Program Producer, Global Conversations on CNN Philippines, Talents Association of GMA Network (TAG), Society of Asian Journalists (SAJ), And Ms. Lian Nami Buan Association Producer for Segments, State of the Nation with Jessica Soho, Associate Editor, SubSelfie.com, and Talents Association of GMA.

First speaker was Ms. Lyne the topic is How to write a story (affectively) her teacher say “there are no bad stories only bad story tellers.” Journalism is about making the important interesting and the interesting relevant because if your journal is not relevant to your topic then what? Your work is not accepted to your boss. Story telling with a purpose, there should be 5 w’s and 1 H. where what when was who and how but there’s one so what? The most important questions are the content, new, so what, and then. The art of interview embrace the silence, do not be afraid to play dumb, take notes for more questions and angles, research is a process of gathering data, not to result, and start strong, end stronger. In writing a story first thing first. List main finding of your fieldworks, decide which facts and details go together, and write not graph, what the part? Context first! And put the human face. And last these are the tips be critical when asking questions, red tape blues: be persistent and patient, make sure grammar and composition is correct, take time to distress, and you will be busy as hell. Brace yourself.

Then report the unreported like indigenous people, environment, climate change, women, PDWs, and Local issues. And last week we do have a 1 week holiday because of APEC this because our president want as to have what other country don’t have this are the 3 to educate, to inform, and to entertain. Some of this helps us how we report, how we write the stories and choose of what to report. Its helps me allot to know more about writing or know more about media literacy. I hope you understand and touch for this page.
